Hi Bob
Can I use an alternative motor other than the one supplied with the e550 ?
If so could I adapt the t rex 600 motor providing I use the right pinion..

I have not really looked at the KV ratings and done the gear ratio calcs for this heli yet. I do not know the KV rating of the e550 motor but if you have another motor that supports the voltage you plan to run at or about the same KV (a little higher might be better than lower KV) then it might work.

the E550 motor is 1100kv (rebdged Z-power Z30-1100) and is suggested to run on 6s and 10t pinion with the 111 main gear. The Align motor is 1700+ (according to Sneu) so there is no practical way to regear it and run on 6s type voltages.

There you have it! Thanks ozace... I knew what the KV of the Align motor but no idea on the 550 motor. Now that you have stated it, it is clear it wont work without greatly reducing your throttle curves and thus loosing the power band of the motor.
Thanks Ozace......

Hello Bob !
I followed with great interest all your vids of the assembly…
But it seems to me that you forgot the most important page of the note: the page n° 21… courage, still a small effort! :Deal
Without this small detail, I tested: impossible to make fly away the bird! :rolling
It's a joke !

So did you fly it or not?
Ainsi avez-vous volé cela ou non ?

Great! Now I gota brush up on my french. By the way, why do I need to know how to say the monkey is on the branch in french anyway? LoL

Hello Bob !
I was long in ordering the batteries and now, I still await them… thus not yet from flight ! :bawl
I benefit from waiting to involve me on the simulator… and for the moment that is better for the true helicopter!
I use AeroFlyPD + Raptor50 : is this the good choice? does that correspond to reality? :motz
...
In France, the first thing that we learn in English class is “My tailor is rich”.
This sentence became more than famous: worship!

Hi Bob,
You're a life saver. I just recently bought a Raptor E550. Basically I'm through with the build using their manual which by the way took sometime for me to figure out. I got everything set and ready to go, but I always have this habit of double checking other peoples work before I do my maiden flight. Thanks to this step-by-step video I can double check my work with someone more experience with building RC helicopters.
Thanks again.

Hi Bob,
I don't really understand why the seesaw mounted mixer arms aren't parallel to the seesaw at midstick with the imaginary line between the two ball links, but the upper part of the mixer arm is parallel to the seesaw like you showed in the video.
My guess is that with the kasama mixer arms you won't be able to do this, but those holes aren't offset.

If you draw a line between the 2 balls on the arm you will see that line does NOT intersect directly in the middle of the arm pivot point. THis is why you adjust that way. The Kasama head is the same but adjustment (the look) is a little different. I will have a vid up of that today.

Real good point on your tail update about the free moving elbow joints between the blade grips and the slider - on the T600 I found that the metal slider often had easier moving elbows than the plastic slider and it took me an age once to track down wag caused by CA leaking out of the plastic elbow arm holes onto the joint and stiffening it up.

Hi Bob
I am building the E620 as my first real RC chopper. The vidoes were great and helped a lot.
Have flown indoor babies recently and also the real machines, Robinson R22 and R44 for about 5 years now.
The build has gone well, and nearly complete.
Question : Is it normal for there to be quite a spark and accompanying "crack" when the connection from the 10S battery, to the ESC is made. I got a fright and hav'nt actually left them it connected yet. I am using a Flight power 10S and the standard recommended TT/Ace ESC and motor.

Yeah, I think that's normal, I get a small spark from the 3S Lipo in my 450. There's also a guy in our club w/ an E620, he uses 12S and I can hear the "crack" after he carries it out to the flight line and plugs it in 20-30ft. away.

In the process of transforming an old converted eraptor into an E620SE. These videos really help... Thanks Finless.
Here is one item I found that can make a difference in the overall precision of the head linkages:
The metal sleeves that fit between the inner races of the bearings and the screws in the washout and head sometimes are a little longer than they need to be creating axial play when fully assembled. I used 220 grit sandpaper and reduced the length little by little until they were short enough so there was no play but long enough so there was no binding. Make sure to clean off all metal dust after sanding before assembly... you don't want it to get into the bearings.

Hi
Can anyone help a newbie! How tight does one need to tighten the bolts on the main blade grips. My gut tells me to leave them a little loose to allow the blades to self-track but then on startup they tend to lose tracking and wobble a bit ?
Was there ever a flight video done for this build. If I missed it in here somewhere I apologize???
