I just finished assembling the model (Hirobo motor and esc) according to finless video. I made a couple of test run with motor on, without flying, in the living room just to see that the motor and servo were running fine.

This morning, I adjusted stabilizer and pitch. Then I connected the motor to make my first flight. I turned the transmitter on, then the receiver. I ear the servo for a second and then, nothing.

I used the battery from my truck to power the receiver and all servos are working fine.

I plug the esc on a spare receiver – transmitter kit, nothing. I get no power from the esc.

When I connect the esc on the battery, with nothing else attached to it, it starts to heat even with the switch off.

I have been working with eclectic RC for several years and I’m sure every thing was connected properly.

I will go to local hobby shop tomorrow and buy a new esc, but what could have caused this? Could the motor be shorted and shot the esc? Or a defective esc. I’m afraid that even if I put a new one the same thing append.

Any idea?

Cheers,

C.

I went to hobby shop today and bought a new ESC. Not the Hirobo this time. I went for a JETI Advance 70.

I installed it and it works perfectly. I still do not know why the Hirobo died since it was new.

Anyway, I was able to discharge my first battery tonight. Trying to fly.... This is much more difficult to fly than my Hirobo lama.

Vette first congrats on your Leppy, please be careful this is no way a Hirobo Lama, it is much more difficult and much more dangerous if you get hit with it, i am glad you got the new ESC to work, if u find it difficult to get it flying right get help at your local field, and fly the simm, it will pay for itself 3 times over.....Ivan!
