well Ive got my rudder end points at 150% an my gain setup at 72% Whats up with the gear ch. end points are they useless if I'm in auto in the gyro sens. mode

I don't have a DX7. But if it programs like other JR radios. Using the ATV on gear channel is useless for gyro gain when the gyro program is also activated.
Gyro program activated that is the menu that is controlling the gain.

One way of setting up the DX7 is to use the Gyro function to control the govenor and the gear channel to control the gyro.
Set the Gyro Sense to Auto, Select the Rates for 0 and 1 (these rates will determine your headspeed in norm or ID1); set the FMod to 0 for norm,1 for STNT, and plug the govenor into aux2. Now you have control of the headspeed via the FMode switch.
Now you can use the ATV on the gear channel to set your Gyro gain.
