Here are a couple of pictures of the Spectra-G 3-D literally "unplugged". The top half of the machine easily removes from the drive section (lower part) by just removing 8-3 mm bolts and the boom supports from the lower plate (2-bolts). Then the upper section just pops right off of the lower, making maintenance very easy to do. After doing any work on either of the sections, just plug the uniball and driver pins back into the fan hub and put the screws back into the vertical ladder pieces. The alignment does not change and there is no need to do any lining up of anything, just plug and go!!

So far, I have found this frame set to be very crash proof as well. The machine unfortunately has taken a couple of very hard hits in crashes so far. Nothing within the frames has been broken, bent, or misaligned in any way. These frames are very robust, but yet lightweight! There has been no signs of any frame flexing during flight at all, so the dampers and main shaft bearings take nearly no wear at all.
These pictures were taken during a motor swap to the stock Zenoah G-231 from the TRM modified G-231 getting ready for the Mulberry event.

The initial motor installation involves mounting the carbon fiber motor back plate to the motor, installing this plate with six 3mm bolts to the bottom plate loosely (there are precision cut slots in the lower plate for adjustment) and then plugging the top section onto the lower one as described above. Then the clutch driver/fan hub gap is made equal front and rear and the six bolts tightened down and your done. This can be done in as little as 5 minutes!

Hope this helps!!

Cool pics John!! Thanks for sharing!!

WAY easier to work on than pretty much any gasser I have seen. WAY WAY easier than the SE.

The Spectra G is the new MA ship? When will they hit the market and how much?

With the rear facing engine configuration is there room for the fuel tank infront of the engine instead of underneath the radio tray?

There is plenty of room in front of the motor on the bottom tray for the tank, the canopy just has to be cut a little differently to do so. I have run the tank in that position as well, no problem. In the pictures, I have my Stator Gator there right now, but there is plenty of room for it in the radio tray area.

I'd be much more impressed if that picture was of my Spectra, on my workbench. :D

The quality samples for the new fan shroud have arrived and are being tested. It is a major improvement over the original!!! A two piece assembly, its very clean looking and the mounting system is completely different. It completely covers the cylinder and has been designed for maximum airflow from the fan. We'll get some pictures up soon.

Are there parts available to make these new gassers stretched versions? I'd love to be able to swing 800-810's for camera work. Longer boom, torque tube, and 6.43 gear ratio.......... is it possible?

the spectra vari-mount chassis supports gear ratios between 6.2:1 and 9.5:1 so you can run pretty much any rpm range that you want.

you can custom order longer tail assemblies, however they are made to order and are subject to time delays.
