I am in the process of finishing up a Titan 50 and I have a question--I see in the manual parts list 6 HMS 15 E-clips---2 for the washout linkages and 4 for the tail pitch control links. Are these clips necessary ? The reason I'm asking is I don't see how you can fit them on as the pins that they supposedly fit over look to be too short--there is no pin length protruding out of the washout linkages or the tail pitch control links. Thanks for any help

You don't have to install them. I would double check and make sure you have the correct pins in the right places.
None of the pins on my Raptor ever came loose except the rear elevator pin, which came loose every flight until I bought the pin with a C-clip on it. It's a good idea to have these on your list of things to look over before every flight.

I think I recall the raptor 30 to have no E-clips on these links compared to the Titan which does have them.
I'd agree that they are probably not essential but worth checking on a regular basis. It might also be worth checking if perhaps you were supplied with the Raptor 30 pins instead of the Raptor 50 titan's.

I put all the e-pins on my titan, just had to use some needle nose pliers to pinch it on because there wasn't really any extra clearance at all once the last one goes on. For me the machined collar the clip was supposed to fit in just protruded past the end of the piece...make sure that the clip is in the groove and not just on the pin.

I'd use the clips, we have *****ed for years to TT about the press fit pins and they finally listened with the Titan. They arent that hard, put one on one end and install the pin and the other one. I prefer to work in a large bag so when the clip goes flying its easy to locate.

Good idea working in a large bag- those clips are a nightmare to find once they fly off during assembly!

The other nice thing TT did when they shipped the Titan is include a whoops bag, a couple small screws, C clips and washers.

Ha ha I found that out myself the hard way Barracuda, spent 6 minutes on the floor looking around for the first clip that I tried to install by hand. :P

Thanks for the replies--I pushed the pins out a little bit on the tail pitch control links today as they are almost flush on both sides and I didn't even see a groove in either side where the e-clips would fit--if they are needed I would rather have them on--if I get a chance tomorrow after work I push them completely out and have another look. The pins in the washout linkages are completely flush and are not long enough to install the clips--this was an arf and not a kit

hi
Fit the clips , that is how it is ment to be made , if they wernt needed then they would not of gone to the trouble to supply them in the kit, remember that they make the kits at a cost, if they can cut their budget they would of...
I dont think I would fly without the e clips on, especialy on the tail, would think that the pins would come out within the first few min of flight...

Well -- I believe I have the problem with the pins sorted out--try not to laugh if you can help it. The pins in the heli were the wrong pins--they were too short and did not have the grooves for the clips---the correct pins were in one of the parts bags. This was bought in arf version so it's kinda surprising that the correct pins were not installed in the first place--maybe the people that put these together for Thunder Tiger hate putting those clips on as much as I did---thanks for the help

As such I'd be worried if they bothered with locktite where its needed. Hence the reason the majority of us build our own kits.
Where you at in S Ga?

Yeah, if they mucked that up in the arf kit, I'd check everything else over to see that they didn't make any other mistakes.
