Just bought a TT e-550.

It'll be a few weeks before I can snake one. I sure wish someone could tell me what the canopy is made from. I emailed HeliDirect and he couldn't tell me. I've scoured the web for detailed specs and pictures. The one guy I found that had built one had no apparent talent for identifying different plastics. Hell, I thought everyone could.

I built two of these.
Very nice heli, the canopy is hard plastic, don't know what type but not cheap plastic.

Tooly...

Thanks for the post...

Take a stab at it.

Is the plastic more like a trex 450/TT Mini-Titan or is it like a raptor 30/50?

The former is PolyCarbonate, the latter is High Density PolyEthylene.

Did you have to make any cutouts? Was it easy to cut or was it a PITA?

Thanks in advance.

It was like raptor 30/50.
I didn't had to cut anything, you get it already trimmed and ready to use.

Hmmm... If it is HDPE, I'm suddenly more interested.

Thanks!

I have an e-smart and the stock canopy is made of polyethylene plastic. An upgrade fiberglass canopy is available though.
