Someone that saw the Align prototype was telling me that it had an "Align 50" motor. But in looking at it you could tell it was an a re-branded OS Hyper 50.

Also, in keeping with Aligns marketing style, it will also be cheaper than a "real" OS 50.

I have never known OS to sell motors to other companies to sell under another label.
Now since Thunder Tiger is in Taiwan also, there is a good possibility that is could be one of their motors. Their is a few of the TT motors that look very similar to the OS motors. That is due to engineers from OS that went to work for TT several years ago.

Money talks. I would guess it would depend how big the order is :dontknow

I hope it is not a TT.

Some of the OS and TT are so exactly alike. That parts are interchangable between them. I have put OS parts in a TT and vice versa when I was working in the shop. LOL

Then why do the TT motors have such a "bad reputation" then I wonder? Marketing?

Dan,
The main difference I have found between the TT and OS engines is the carb. For some reason TT is a little inconsistent on their carbs. The needles are usually a little more blunter than the OS needles. So one click will make a huge difference where it might take several clicks on the OS to make the same change.
Few years ago, a friend was running TT 61 engines in his helis. They were powerhouses. He was using Super Tiger carb on them thou.

OS use to sell under another name in the 1/8th off road world, so it would not surprise me if they went that way in the heli world.

I have heard that OS has made Align agree to not undercut the price of the Hyper here in the states when it is released.

Word I got at the Toledo show was. All the Align motors "sold in the US" will have a "real" OS motor in it.

I am sure after the kit is released you will be able to order the "rebranded" OS motor from many places. but "officially" a real (more expensive and vendor supported) OS motor will be in the kits sold in the U.S.

It will be a long time till those hit the United States. Right now I believe Great Planes has the exclusive contract with OS, so align can't import them at the moment.

Duratrax had some rebadged OS engines in some of their cars, I wouldnt be suprised to see Align do something similar.

Google Math (http://www.google.com/search?q=8.17cc+in+cubic+inches&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)

8.17 cc = 0.498563989 cubic inches

So I would say Tower
