I bought my boyfriend a heli for Christmas, however - I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. It wasn't until after we started using it that we both realized a big problem with the one I bought him. It only goes up and down (if you're lucky) and you can spin it around in circles.

It just wasn't a thought that came to mind.

Any advice on what to buy? Things that you can change the pitch, and actually control what they do - on a modest budject. (I'd say between $100 and $200.)

I'm sure you get questions like this all of the time, but I just feel so bad for buying him something that barely works - and I'd really like to get him one we can both enjoy.

An E-Flite Blade CX should do nicely (+/- $170). They're the easiest to control and should give both of you value for money.

get him a sim. For $200 that's the best heli money can buy.

Not really arguing with you, but I don't think it's quite the same as seeing a heli buzzing around in your living room.

For someone that’s not sure they’ll even be interested in the hobby, a CX would be a good start in my opinion. Given the fact that this hobby will take whatever money you can throw at it indefinitely, $170 isn’t really that much to see if you’ll enjoy it in the first place.

Anyway, just my opinion.

The CX is selling for about $130 now, with the CX2 at $180.

CX is a great starter. But BE FOREWARNED, RC helis are addictive, and can lead to much time spent by your boyfriend in his shop working on them and LOTS of moeny spent.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. :)
