View Full Version : new Lipo tech available. Sounds incredible!
Hi,
I'm quite interested in these cells. However, I noticed a discrepancy in the weight listed in this thread for the 6S 5000 pack versus what is listed on the AirThunder web site. In this thread Skiddz quoted 790 g, but the web site says 874 g. That's a 3 oz difference. So, which is it?
EDIT: I found the answer. The real weight is 874+ g. Someone measured it as 890 g with a Deans Ultra.
Thanks,
John

Here is a CBA graph showing the difference between the 52nd cycle and the 103rd cycle. As tou can see it is losing a bit of capacity, but I gotta be honest with you this battery has been used and abused. It has been over disharged on every cycle and drained down to 0 volts many times. Just imagine how well they would hold up if you took half as good of care with your battery as I did with this one. I am convinced that these batteries are the real deal and not just some fly by night company selling junk. AirThunder listens to all of my and everyone elses suggestions takes them to heart and then does something with them. I will still continue to beat up on this battery starting with some high rate charging cycles to see what happens. Stay tuned...

The specs I listed in my previous post were right off of AirThunder's website at the time of the posting.

Whats the verdict here guys?
From what I am seeing these air thunder packs are for real. The data is there isn't it?
My view is these are great packs, if you can afford the extra weight and size, they will be cheap and worry free... more bang for the buck, but maybe not for the grams
If you are looking to shave grams for your heli however these are not the packs for you.
I have 4 FP packs BTW. I love them, and I'm a firm beleiver that too god to be true, usually is.... but these appear to be for real and a good alternative. I'm basing this on what I've read, am I wrong?

Wow, these sound great! Does anyone know if they are immune to the loss in capacity due to aging that is common to LiPo cells? Charged LiPo cells in storage, specially in hot conditions, can permanently lose quite a bit of capacity in just a year or two even if you are not using them. Wonder if the AirThunder folks figured a way to get around that too???

Received the following from a German supplier www.first-products.de (http://www.first-products.de).
Li-Ion Mn 6S3P 22.8v 4200 mah - 810 grams, (:() continuous disharge at 60 amps, peak discharge for up to 10 secs 84 amps. Fast charge at 13.5 amps, normal charge at 6 amps using the Li-Po program of your charger. This battery pack does not require any balancing, nor an ESC with Li-Po cut-off function. Expected cycles until the pack reaches 80% of its starting capacity is 250. Price 198 Euros. Apparently these can be run right down and can also be tolerant of overcharge. Sounds good.
Anyone tried a Lith Manganese battery yet?
