View Full Version : Causes of anti-clockwise rotation??

From reading these forums, I understand that this rotation can be caused by inadequate tail rotor speed failing to counter main rotor torque.

Since the helo which is having problems with this is a fixed pitch tail motor (a Venom Aircorps Nightranger II) I need to address the amount of torque being produced.

Can't do anything about the blades - they're fixed pitch as well, but what about the flybar. Would varying the length have an effect?

Hope someone can help me here

I'm not framilar with the electronics, but does your 4in1 or 3in1 have a gain and proportional setting?
Gain is for gyro sensativity; how sens. it is to movement, raise it until the tail wags back and forth, then lower a little.
proportional setting is to adjust the rate of the tail speed to counter the torque from the rotor, this should be adjusted first.
Good Luck

Unfortunately the Nightranger only has a combo reciever/gyro. It has a gain pot but no proportional adjust that I can find. May have to crack her open and have a look.

Thanks

Then try a little trim on the rudder to accomidate.
Those tail motors lose nut with age, being that they're brushed, as well as authority with discharge of the batt..
However it does teach excelent tail control ability, just a pain.

You're not wrong about the pain bit. Trim's already full. You may be right about the motor though, it tends to get worse towards the end of each charge - possibly heat related.... gives me something to try at least.
