Over on Ebay, I posted my first one, it is a second, the mold was/is green and I had a spot of trouble, so mostly I am trying to recover my material costs.

It weighs 4.4 oz.

Will have good product in the near future.
for now on ebay

Jack,
Have you flown the Ion with a CF canopy installed?

Also how much weight difference is this compared to the stock Ion canopy?

I have not weighed an Ion canopy, but the stock ones I have held that were not painted seemed light in weight.

Jack,
That is AWESOME.
I will take a shot at that second.
Also give me a buzz when you have it down to start making more if you are.
I want one. The stock one is too flimsy IMO and I need a new paint job. :D

I can't weigh the original right now, I am using it to remake 1/2 of the mold. I am still trying to figure out what it costs in materials to make one canopy. I thiink the carbon fiber is maybe an ounce more at the most than the original, and still quite flexible.

Funny I posted this on the other site and got chewed out and had the post removed. Go figure.

You might talk to Shannon Davis here on Helifreak. He made some carbon fiber canopies for the Fury. He has used them on the heli while flying. He did run into a few problems when using it. He will tell you what to look for to prevent the problems. This is not one of those just stick it on and try it situations. There is some prevention type stuff to do that may help avoid crashing a heli with the canopy on the model.
Not trying to discourage you at all. Just trying to inform you of some the problems that could arise.

David,
Well it certainly makes sense. It is only one layer, so unless it rubs in the mount, there should be no RF. The whip antenna should be outside the canopy anyway in my book, so that shouldn't be much of an issue, and I also know that folks fly the CF Airwolf all the time with the antenna on the inside. Go figure.
