Gain/Gy401 and Futaba radios

Whats the max gain that I can safely set my GY401/9254 on my Futaba 9C in "GY mode"?? I am refering to using the gyro in "GY mode" and NOT in "std mode". I usually have it set at 40%AVC in "GY mode", but, lately have been learning some backward flying. Tail always needs correction. I've experimented with the gain at 55% today and it seems to be better. But, I want to go higher if possible. The tail servo doesn't seem to be getting hot. Is it safe to bring the gain up higher??

Also another item that affects how the electronic gain is set. Is how the mechanical gain is set. How is the position of the pickoff point on the servo wheel. If your in closer the mechanical gain will be less and the electronic gain can be higher. Out more on the wheel and the mechanical gain is higher and th electronic gain needs to be lower.
