I know that cutting the receiver antenna is a "no no," but how about shortening servo leads? I'd like to clean up the routing of my wires.

The best way to shorten your servo leads is to buy more of the plastic plugs and the metal pins. Then you can simply cut the wire off to the desired length, separate and strip the wire ends, and press new pins on to them. Just make sure that you get the same color wire into the same position in the plug!

I would suggest not to shorten the leads. If you happen to need to use the servo in another location or application. Then the lead is going to be too short and you may would to use an extension. It is usually fairly easy to make servos leads look neat. Just use some Velcro one wrap and tidy them up and secure them.
