Nice try, David. But the YS 50 runs so much better than the OS alternative that it's worth not having any warranty, LOL. So, if my YS 50 ever needs parts, I will gladly seek out a new one and pay the price. The Hyper has had its day and it's time to move on to YS.

Hey just telling the truth. The YS 50 was released a year ago. There has/is very limited quanities of them. I don't believe YS Performance has ever had the 50 or parts. Yes the ones that have them say they run fine. I would just hate to have a motor that parts are virtually non -existent. Even the parts for the YS 91's are difficult to come by. I flew YS for 10 years.

The original poster here in in Australia.

Stocks of the YS50 are arriving in Australia now and i'm told parts are soon to follow.

I think YS have realised there is a lot of potential in the 50 market. I'm seeing more of these motors now. Kyosho have a Cal5 kit with YS included. The prototype Vibe 50 at Toledo had a YS50 installed.

And with the TRex 600 Nitro being release at the end of the month there is going to be a boom in 50 sales with a subsequent high demand for motors. I hope YS ramps up production to get a piece of that pie.

I have two of these motors and they are working great for me.

IS this thing a drop in replacement for the OS engine?

If so could be an option.

Yes, the bolt patterns is the same as the Hyper.

Only two things to look at.
The throttle arm may need an extension to clear the frame on a Raptor but fits fine on a Sceadu.
The crankshaft nut is 1mm longer than the OS so you need to check that the clutch is not touching the nut. On my sceadu i solved the problem by using the OS nut.

There is an add in the AMA mag this month that shows a new ys 91 and the ys 50 being sold here in the US by a company in Minden NV. Maybe there is hope yet.

What is up with the new 91? what are the changes?

The YS 91 SR is a long stroke engine. The YS 91ST is a short stroke engine.

They are in stock (or were :) ) at heliproz and only raptors right now, 225 is the actual selling price, guess they arent subject to MAP pricing with those.

And now that Horizon is the US distributor maybe parts and such will be easier to come by now.

Horizon has been a distributor. I believe YS Performance is still the US Importer for YS Engines. I guess Rich Verano still has YS Performance. I know the shop moved away from Peformance Specialities last I had heard.

So the SR would need a gear ratio of 8 or 9 to one?

One cool thing about the YS50 is that a Hatori FH type muffler will bolt right on with only drilling one hole in the metal gasket. :D

Just organized a YS50 and will pick it up at the Coffs Harbour event in exactly 3 days.
I will also pick up a Hatory for IF it get's through custom on time.
And it all goes into ...you guessed it....Raptor 50SE to replace the TT50 with TT muffler.
I was going to go for an OS 50 Hyper and there is a fair price difference, but......

Hi Michael
Are you coming to Coffs Harbour this weekend?
Anyway, if you really want one, then grab one quick.
They seem to come in a bunch and then nothing for months on end. Was the same with the YS91.
