Ok........I finally got this damn thing to fly.....

I think I've had every problem I've heard about this heli (after I bought it of course)......but I just couldn't leave it alone...

Mixed and mod'ed parts from 3 different helis to correct all the problems to do it though....but it flys!!

Nice heli, a lot of work though. What town in CT are you from?

Stamford.......

Yeah, was alot of work, but the hdx300 wasn't the first heli I got ripped on....I fell for the sjm400 hype and had one of those to donate parts ....

All I was looking for was a smaller "trex type" heli .......seems like they all go only half way in designing the smaller ones...

Now that I know it flys I might actually take off the training gear after a few more packs.........just to be sure it doesn't develope yet another problem I haven't found yet....

Im still building mine, its 75% done. Don't really have the urge to do anymore than that the last 5 months.

I understand carlo....it's kind of disheartening....looks so good but engineered so poorly.....

they should have used a 4mm main shaft instead of 3mm.

instead of two set screws in the belt pulley they should have installed a one-way bearing (3x6.5x6 if anyone wonders what size I used)

and a bigger tail case.......(I used a zoom 400 V1 tail as it was bigger and has a 9mm boom like the HDX)

those are the biggest changes I made that really did the trick....

I also used two pcs of aluminum bar stock to connect the front and back skid mounts together and used that to mount the sjm landing gear.....

it turned out that those two pcs of bar stock really seemed to stiffened up the frame and help stop the head from going into an uncontrollable wobble on spin up/down due to the small main shaft...at least now I don't bend the main shaft before I even get lift off....

not sure if any one thing did it but after doing all that it now flys...

hope this helps anyone else who's like me and can't just seem to let it go.......

ohh, I was really drooling over the HDX300 too. I guess for my next heli, I should just get an HDX450 or a T-Rex 450. I have heard the HDX450 don't have many of the same problems but I have never built one so I can't say for sure. I am glad you got it to fly finally!

actually with the v2 head and the shogunv1 tail its a great heli ,you just have to make your own shafts as hd's are just to weak and bend.the v1 tail was actually the first cnc tail they used with the sx tail coming later.
