Alright heres the deal, I have a rex 450 and 600 and I am smacking them around pretty good now. I am extremely familiar with all aspects of configuration on those but I am finally getting the Bergen EB setup with my AP2000i for AP work. I have the helicam solutions broadcast 360 mount with a DSC V3 digital (thanks to Ron). What should be my ultimate goals for headspeed at hover, fff and idle up ideally for the weight of the camera etc.

Also since I have the pro's reading this what sort of interaction have you seen from the exhaust with regard to the FMA infrared temp sensor?

Extra info -
V blades all around, V carbon paddles with hefty flybar weights.

My EB's set up the same as yours except for the camera rig. Start at 1450 and tweek the curves from there to get 'er smooth. For AP, you don't really need idleups. I do have one idleup set for test flying without the mount. Same headspeed just different curves.

If you've got the IR sensor on the tailboom like pictured in my gallery, you won't have any issue with the exhaust.

Justin -

Sorry I could not make it out to the desert last weekend; too much happening over here.

Good info above however; I do set up idle1 because I feel more comfortable with a constant head speed when pulling her back to terra firma.

Stop over if you want me to give you a hand ...

I'm probably a little diffrent then then the norm,I run closer to1750-1800,Here in fort mac allways seems to be windy,I find with the hi head speeds I don't even feel my gear under the choper, easy to hover high up over tree level when you get those wild wind guss.I run no expo,no idle ups, just off idle I get into that 1500 range, find it very easy to fly back down.keep in mind I run off my high needle more than my low,I run a rich fuel mix, to the point that al at hason advised me to back off on the oil.I like the snappy feeling, the no bog feeling, and the more tighter control.Ha I might get the rich buzz here and their, but I like it and i fly the hell out of that choper. And I burn alot off fuel.just had to change the main gear this year could not adjust the back lash, gear wore out.you don't want to see my thrust bearings, if you want to play you must pay.

Ron I think I might take you up on that. I have come a long way since I last stopped by!! I would want to pay you this time, I know you are against that but I would like to saok up an hour or two of your time. I would like to get reel comfy with the setup of the headspeed and the ap2000 since you are pretty familiar with that. Do you have an optical tach on hand? If not maybe I will pick one up for you in payment for your help LOL. Let me know when is good for you. I am going to Mexico for a boys night out Saturday but anytime next weekend is good for me.

BTW - The best of the west jet show was a success IMHO. You missed it Ron!! They clocked one at 188 Mph of course that was as high as the gun would read LOL so who knows how fast they were going!!

Thanks for the input Chris. I suppose Ron will get me all squared away but out of curiousity at 0 pitch and 100% throttle would be the highset attainable RPM..... Ballpark of course? Just curious since I had the Delam on those NHP blades it sounded like it may have been running at higher RPM than usual but I wouldnt think it would be high enough to pull the blades due to force of RPM's. :D :D :D

Highest headspeed? Hmmm.

With the 7.5 gear ratio in the EB, IF you ran the engine at 15,000, you'd get a 2000 RPM headspeed. NOT recommended.......

As a general rule, don't spin any 800/810 blades higher than 1700. The V-Blades can take it (although I doubt Vic Would warrranty them at that RPM). And the rotor head and grips on the Bergen machines can take it, I'm more concerned about the overall health of the machine at those speeds. Obviously in extreme circumstances it can be done, but it is not usually necessary.

The current NHP blades are much better than the originals, they changed the weave pattern of the Carbon, BUT there is still a seam along the leading edge, whereas the the V-Blades is one continuous wrap with no leading edge seam. So it is possible to get a delamination with the NHP's, although very rare.
