FYI Feb 2007
The Spektrum team realizes that the charger included in the DX7 is not optimal for charging the Tx battery in a convenient, overnight fashion. Although the current charger works adequately with additional charge time, future production will include the higher rate charger as referenced in the instruction manual. If you intend to use the 50mah charger, please increase the charge time to 30hrs for the Tx and 22hrs for the Rx.

I seriously doubt a charger with an output of 50 mah is ever going to charge a 1500 mah pack fully. But a 50 mah charger will make a great trickle charger for a 1500 mah pack.

Need at least a charger with a 150 mah output to charge the battery fully and correctly.

I wonder if any of the later units have the higher rate charger they are eluding to and what Mah it is? I just thought it would be good to post as many seem to want to change it to a LiPo and maybe their disalusionment is because they never really charged it fully to begin with. I'll be checking my charger when I get home today. UPDATE .... Mine is a 50Mah charger!

With all the hundreds of posts about the 50Ma charger, and all the opionions about peak charging and on and on and on...

I have used only the included 50 MA wall charger with my DX7. I get excellent performance, I fly mostly DSM2 receivers, often flying a all weekend without charging and sometimes flying two weekends in a row. Yeah, I know, NiMh have self discharge and this can't be true... but it is.

I tend to charge for 24 hours (or more) by plugging in on Friday morning, unplug when I go to fly on Saturday morning, and then just go fly all weekend. If I didn't fly the weekend before (weather), then I just charge overnight. That's it.

So, as much as people complain about this 50Ma issue, just plug the thing in for a 24 hour (or more) day here and there and forget all the peaking and removing to charge and so on. Works great.

:dontknow I use my peak charger to charge my Tx/Rx at 1C. I have good run times from it.
