Noting fancy, just a friend and my self playing around with our Logo 500 3D

Håvard is flying 5s with MS 550 blades, z-power, plastic motor mount, mod 0.5 and vbar.

I'm flying a L500 on 6s FP EVO20, NHP 500 blades, Z-Power 30a, plastick motor mount, mod 0.5 (and flybar...:-( ) My headspeed is set at 2300 (constant rpm mode) with a 21t pinion with a Jeti SPIN 77OPTO (with heatsink).

We have both just started 3D flying with helicopters but we both agree - the Logo rocks!!
I'll buy a 6s 5000mah pack and 550 blades within the nearest future :-)

Ian, looks like your setup has some good power. :) Were those some 'crack' moves about half way through?

How much charge are you putting back in the 5000 6S pack after flying like that for 5 minutes?

After seeing that video and power setup, I might go with the flybar model of the 5003D to save some money and get an extra battery pack.

Thanks for sharing,

Bruce

thanks for the compliments guys.

Shawn, im running the 8 turn motor, 1300kV, and im using the 15T pinion. it worked perfect on the CC85, but its a bit high revving on the Jazz. I need to try both a 14 and a 13, as on the 15 i am running 80%, and the head speed is about 100rpm too high, still, it seems to go fine, but gets warm

The blades are the SAB 550mm, weigh 105g, so are really really sharp in flight, but auto performance is down. i used to run NHP 550mm Razors, but i like these SABs, a lot stiffer. Using the JR 8915 servos, the roll and pitch is so sharp, the blades make an awesome noise. I love flying it hard, just so i can make them blades yell!!

Bruce, I've just learnt crack maneuvers in the last week or so, and really enjoy them so i do them a lot in my flying. its not too noticeable in the video, but in real life it looks pretty awesome.

The Hacker i am running isnt the most efficient motor, so it draws a lot and gets hot. also, as said above, im on the wrong pinion, so flight time is down. I set my timer for 4:30, and when that goes off, i usually go up for an auto. Packs come down warm, and i put between 4.2A - 4.5A back into after each flight. 8A charge and i can fly again in 40 minutes :rolling

The flybar flies pretty awesome, you do get more power out of the v-bar, and it flies slightly different, but the flybar still rocks. i have a 600 on the way with a B-Var, maybe in a month or so i will get it flying, but for the moment i am more than happy with my little 500

Ian

I thought I should pass on some links to videos from RCGroups of the Logo 500 3D in action. This guy (Mini-Dub) is a good pilot and does more smooth 3D flying than all out stick banging. I really like the style and the sound and video quality doesn't hurt either.

My friend was nice enough to put together a great video of my Logo 10. I'm a scale flyer, so no 3D, just some nice smooth figure 8s.. :)

Here is the video from Sunday with SCHC. Jason Chow is one of our best local pilots (I think we’ll all be seeing more of him soon! :YeaBaby:). My flying skills are coming along, but when Jason offered to put my build through its paces I could not resist!

Here is what he posted that night after the flight:

“rob, i feel more and more how well of a setup logo you have. you did your research and you did it well. not only is much more reponsive, i would not touch the setup. it does not need more power, it does not need more cyclic or pitch. it doesn't need more of anything at this point other than batteries so you can fly it. im very happy for you and would love to see what you come up with next, if there is something else to be found!”

Just a few more notes on the flight:

Since posting my build thread, http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=51172, I’ve made the following changes:

-Main blades changed from Rotortech 550mm to 560mm. This made the most significant difference and notably improved cyclic response. The 560mm blades are 19g lighter, have 2mm wider cord and slightly inward CG vs the 550’s.

-Paddles changed from stock to 80mm V-paddles. Minimal flight differences, but they look cooler!

-Pinion changed from 16T to 15T. I’m not great at collective management yet and with the 16T I would get some bogging. The motor and battery were also coming down a bit warmer than I liked and made me concerned for hot weather. With the 15T, I’m getting 5:30 flights, putting back 3350mA, or a conservative 67%!, and the battery is 110 deg F. Now running 2250 HS.

On this flight, Jason flew 5:30, used 3634mA (73%) and the battery was 110 deg.

Enjoy!!

Ah man, I so wish I could have come down to the fun fly. Rob, that Logo is flying SO well. Pass on my compliments to Jason for the flying, Victor for the filming, and to you for the research of components. That is such a great video to watch. Its definitely one of my favorites now (maybe because my setup is so close).

Some good collective management, some more HS would really quicken the cyclics as well. I realize you want to maintain the flighttime so the 15 will certainly do. Nice video, thanks for sharing!:o
