It's still on six cells right now, but I am negotiating with my sponsor to see if she will let me try it on eight cells. :lol: :lol:

That white thing is a UBEC and it works awesome.

I finally got decent weather and made a couple of flights. AWESOME!!! The heli spools up like a turbine and runs as smooth as silk.

I'm still hoping for the go ahead to try eight cells, but it had plenty of punch with the 10T pinion and six cells today. It sure is nice to see this old Raptor reborn as an electric.

I was wondering that myself as I run a 6s Lipo and had to go to a 13 to get 1750 rpm head speed. I think his 10 tooth is because it used to be a nitro heli.... the gearing is different I think.

Yeah, forgot I had read that, yup probably the nitro main which is smaller.

I am running the Z-Power 30A-1100 with six cells and the 10T pinion with the 111 tooth spur gear. I started this experiment with the idea of comparing the Trex 600 with the E-Raptor. That's why I went with this motor and six cells. After I saw some of your earlier comments, I calculated that I can drop to a 9 tooth pinion if I switch to eight cells and get better performance. I consider myself to be a circuit flyer, not a 3D wizard, so I'm not looking for Saturn 5 lift off performance (yet).

With luck, we will finally see some decent weather in Virginia and I can start flying more.

I guess you could, the 10T would give a theoretical max of abt 2100, a 9T should still give you abt 1900 on a fresh pack at 100% throttle which is enough for circuits...

Your calculator is different than mine. The calculator on the Readyheli site gives me a theoretical 2250 headspeed with the 9 tooth pinion (eight cells). The six cell calculation with the 10 tooth is 1900.

I thought I was gaining some speed and maneuverability by contemplating this change.

Sorry, missed the 8 cells deal. My numbers are for 6 both of them.

I calculate with 4 volt per cell as a fresh pack.

4 volts x 6 cells x 1100 kv x 10T / 111 T x 90% eff = 2140
4 volts x 8 cells x 1100 kv x 9T / 111 T x 90% eff = 2569

2140 x 90% thr = 1926 rpm
2569 x 90% thr = 2312 rpm
