Guys and gals, I have been toying with the idea of starting a r/c helicopter club in St Charles County, MO (St Charles, St Peters, OFallon, etc). There are several airplane clubs in St Charles County, but not a single helicopter only club. There are several more airplane clubs in the St Louis, Mo area and just one helicopter club which is about an hour away. There is nothing wrong with this club (St Louis Whirleybirds), I would just like a club closer to where I live.

I'm going to put out flyers at a few of the local hobby shops and see if I can get enough interest to start the club. This is only the very beginning. We will have to find some land, but I have a couple things I am working on, apply for a club charter, etc.

I would love to get suggestions from everyone and see if anyone here on the forum would be interested being a part of this club.

Wayne and some other members here are part of MHA (http://www.flymha.com), Maryland Helicopter Association. Hopefully he/they can chime in and make some suggestions for you.

I live in Florissant and am in the same predicament. I would be very interested in joining a club closer than Imperial.

I got a call back from the City of St Peters. I was trying to get a spot in the City's 300 acre park under developement. I talked with one gentleman who had to talk with another city official who came back and said the city was not interested in having a helicopter club in any of their parks. I am not going to give up though after I thought about it. I'm going to find out why they are so against R/C in general (long story).

If you haven't already you may want to contact the AMA, they have a program to help you get a flying field.

I did not know that they actually helped in finding a flying site. I will have to give them a call.

Thanks,
