View Full Version : What curves should I start with on my 50V1 w/woodies?

I bought a used all stock 50V1 / OS50 / woodies / three HS-625MG servos / HS-525MG on the throttle / 401 w/9253 mounted on the boom / 9CHP / TT pipe / header tank installed / I'm probably going to run it on 10%.
Any suggestions where to start with the curves?
I'm wanting to use it to practice nose in, reverse flight and let a select few get on the buddy cord with me.

I'd suggest running less pitch with woodies ... 9,-9
sorry we didn't see this post until now

That's what I'm running: +9 / -9
I gave up on this post and bought another GV-1 only to decide not to use the governor and learn a thing or two about setting up the curves in my TX. I just need a airborne tach and some time with someone who knows how to teach me the technique of setting these curves. I have the heli flying, I don't use it for any 3D stuff and it seems to be OK. Truth be know, It can do more than I can at this point anyway. I'm still struggling with reverse and inverted flight.

run linear 0-25-50-75-100 or as close as you can mechanically get to it in normal and 100-75-50-75-100 in the idleups. With the woodies I'm not sure if you want more or less pitch at the quarters... I have started running a little more pitch at the quarters in I2 and a little more top end for climbout performance in I1. I run -10-+10 standard but as much as +12 in I1 if my motor will pull it and as much as +13 in Hold as the V's just keep on hanging.

I used to have a terrible time knowing if my throttle curve was setup right or not so I know exactly what you're going through. Getting this right is a balancing act and it takes a certain amount of patience if you don't have someone working with you in person. I think that if you can get it close while you're working those orientations, while it's not optimum, just fly it. I had a perfectionist streak in me that kept me tweaking - chasing something I didn't really understand yet - and I wasn't having as much fun as I should have been. Will you be going over to Statesboro in a couple of weeks for Clint's funfly there? If so, I'd be glad to meet you and help if I can.
