View Full Version : What's the weak points of JR-Heli's?

Hello people!
I'm building a JR Venture 30 out of several components I've received as presents... :)
Since that'll become my workhorse for training, I'd really like to go forward and improve any weak points from the beginning...
Every heli has one specific weak spot that should be improved...
Therefore...
Does know any particular weak points on the Venture?
Anything that needs replacement at regular intervals?
Things that are likely to break (beside "regular" weak points like feathering shaft etc...)?
Perhaps you people want to chime in and put your thought here so we get a little collection?
Cheers from switzerland,
Daniel

There is a lot of play in the stock blade grips. Use JRP960063 Main Blade Holders. They are for the Ergo 30 but fit the V30. I also moved my tail servo from the front and put it on the boom.
Hope this helps!

Like zipper said, blade grips are notoriously sloppy. The stock spindle is pretty weak. you can upgrade to a thicker spindle. The 4 landing gear vibration isolators are also known to break in half causing the heli to tip over on the ground. Drill all the way through them and reinstall with a screw and nut. I've also had problems with the starter hex adapter that slips over the starter shaft on the heli and is held in place with a 4mm setscrew. The screw strips out during normal startup (no fuel lock) and I have to keep replaceing it. Tried filing the end of the setscrew flat for a better grip and also tried a new adapter but the screw still gets stripped out intermitently. Not sure what the fix is. The boom tends to slip back into the frame even with the setscrews tightened down. They tend to rip into the thin wall of the boom so I installed some fine sandpaper between the frame and boom and no more slipping. Other than these minor problems, it has been a great first nitro for me. Very easy to fly compared to a microheli and very few mechanical problems once setup right.

I had a problem with the stock fuel tank. When it pressurized it would force the fuel between the tank and the rubber grommet that holds the line from the clunk to the carb. I would have a nice puddle of fuel on the inside of my canopy. I ended up getting some gasket sealer and fixed it.

Mattitude,
I agree totally with you.
Even with unpressurized, I would fly with that thing.
That's one of the first things I ordered a replacement for...
Luckily, they carry a "tuning"-part in the line, so one doesn't have to search for something that fits...
I know a guy that took off nicely, followed by one fast circuit and then powerstop that produced a small waterfall of fuel from the canopy...
Looked cool, though... :glasses2:
Cheers,
Daniel
