Check out Finless Bob's Helifreak Tech Room. There are video's for several different heli's. Find the assembly video for your heli and find find the part where he shows the pinion. It might also help to know which make/model/version of heli you have.

I've got a dragonus II pro with an Align 430l motor. I've checked out his dragonus build videos and found them to be very helpful but the pinion doesn't want to go on the shaft easily, I understand you want a tight fit but dont know how to apply the pressure correctly. Should i put it in a vice?

The pinions are machined parts and sometimes have raised edges. Ensure the hole doesn't have any burrs/edges. You may also find that heating up the pinion makes it easier to install (be careful as a hot pinion gets loose easily and may burn you if it's too hot).

I think the Dragonus came with 3 mm pinions. The Align motor is 3.17 mm, so don't force these pinions on the Align motor. Buy some 3.17 mm pinions.
