Hey all... I'm working on running my Blade CP in Governor mode, and was stuck with a high headspeed for my setup. I have a Phoenix 25, 1350mah 3 cell, and the E-flite Park 370 4100kv motor running an 8 tooth. Using this setup and setting the radio's throttle curve as low as possible, the headspeed was around 2800 rpm, and my flight times were limited to around 4 minutes due to motor heat.

I'm in the middle of a rebuild due to an unrelated wreck, and decided to plug in my castlelink, and found that it was set on High Gov. I changed it to Low Gov, and the motor is now running at a slower speed. I haven't been able to tach it because the head is not complete and I'm waiting on a 10 tooth gear to be delivered.

I started out in High Gov, because that's what I use on my T-Rex, and it's happy with it. Is anyone else running Gov mode on their Blade? I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of headspeed I should expect.

Also... I figured this would be good info for anyone using this setup... The motor was NOT happy, but I think I might have fixed things before any real damage could occur.

I have a VERY simlar setup (different battery, and a 9 tooth pinion) in my Frankenchopper... I *think* I left the governor on high, so I could control everything from the Tx.

Still hasn't flown, so no clue how well it will work. Could you post a screen cap of your settings? I know it's only a 2 page setup, but the things that they allow you to adjust just seem weird to me. (maybe they make more sense on a plank or a car)

THANKS!

Yep that high governor mode will really run that motor fast, the high governor mode is for Low KV motors , the 4100 is a fairly high KV. Good thing you found it out, Im sure at low gov its running 2200 or so with an 8 tooth, you may end up changing out to a 9 or 10 tooth to get that 3k+ headspeed.

I tried it with my Phoenix 10. High gov mode. Head speed is good but I needed to stretch out the throttle endpoints to get it spinning. Problem is I get pulsing with my 4200kv Elf Hobby motor. Tail also pulses. So I ditched it for now and am running fixed pitch throttle.

Hey Slikrx... If you leave the high settings, you won't have full control of the motor through the radio... You can only adjust it down to a certain point. Mine was around 2800 RPM. I don't want to think about where the headspeed was when I started... I've never been afraid of a Blade before!!! I backed away like it was a 90...

My heli is at home, and I'm at work, so I'll have to get the screen shots later, but a lot of it is similar to the Gyro settings, were it's just kind of a feel thing. They won't be right until I get some stick time in since I'm making a few changes in the current rebuild that won't be captured in my current settings.

I have a 10 tooth on the way, because I liked the high headspeed, but don't want to burn the motor to get it.
