I had my Jesus Pin pop out in flight, and decided to try something new... I had an Associated 18B laying around, and figured I'd find out if I could get one of the pins to work. I'm happy with it, and it seems a lot more secure than the pin the Blade came with. Let me know what you think. I haven't really noticed vibration caused by it, and I think the added safety is a good trade off anyway.

The question is, is it easy to shear it in a crash? I tried a stiff pin on my HoneyBee, one blade strike later I had a hub that was completely broken and a main shaft bent at 45* in the swash bearing. That is a little extreme but isn't that a feature so you don't strip the main gear and break head pieces? I am using a small diameter paper clip with the ends bent so it don't pop out. But If your good I guess my rant is moot.
What type of pin is that exactly?

I'm not sure exactly what it's made from... but it's made by Associated for the 18B, 18T, and 18MT. I picked them up a while back for the buggy itself, and after tossing a paper clip that apparently wasn't bent far enough... I shoved this in. It's been through one crash already... I was playing hard with some rolls, and my pitch got ahead of me. I went full positive inverted, hit heading hold, and ended up with a broken frame (where the landing gear goes in the back), bent main (I was able to straighten it), one of my paddles went through a blade benging the flybar and breaking one blade, cracked the canopy beyond use, and took out one side of the landing gear.
The pin was fine. Is it too strong? Maybe. If I run into trouble with it... I'll update you guys.

A paper clip works fine for me. Used tail motor shafts make good pins. Smash armature with a hammer and pry of the pieces. One shaft make two. Shears on hard impact.

I've used the screws from a worn out e-flite servo. They shear well.

is really the shear pin suppose to shear in a bad crash to save other parts? i've been using these clips from tamiya for a long LONG time now, and i've find that my center hub is easily broken, of course, those are like 'rippers' when your tail goes when ur verticle. anyways, if it is, i'll try some servo screws, i got LOTS laying around.
