View Full Version : RevMax and DX7 F-mode -> Aux2 linking + gyro switch probs

Is anyone using the Flightmode switch link to set their RPM with the Rev Max?

I calibrated with Aux2 switch and throttle endpoints. That wasn't difficult.

Now I find myself having to alter the endpoints and the subtrim on Aux2, to get the values I want on Aux2. It seems like the only way you can tell what values you're outputting to

I have Aux2 subtrim at -115, with endpoints at +130% and -10%.

It looks like I'm at about 60% in Normal, 70% in Idle-Up1, and 80% in Idle-Up2. I'm looking for around those figures to hit 1700 in normal, and 1900 in Idle-Up2 on my Milly running 8:1 with an OS-X C Spec.

It's all a bit hit and miss, though. Does anyone have a better way of doing it?

To be honest this, and the rubbish throttle hold / gyro sense malarkey is really getting my goat with the DX-7. There are some serious shortcomings with the software design IMO.

I'm just glad I didn't sell my 9X. I think I'll buy a module for it at some point if I can't get this adequately sorted.

I'd like to have my RevMax (accurately) linked to my F-Mode. Throttle hold on the hold switch, gyro sense on the Aux 2 switch. And dagnabit I'd like a throttle cut on the Gear switch.

Does anybody have any ideas.

Here's my DX7 - RevMax setup:

AUX on RevMax = AUX2

After calibration:

System Menu: AUX INH

PROG.MIX1
AUX2->AUX2
RATE: +76%
-70%
SW: F-S12
OFFSET: 0

This gives Governor off in normal mode and enabled in IU1 and IU2.
AUX2 switch down (1) slow rpm and up (0) high rpm.

Thanks Paul. I was specifically interested in using it with the f-mode/Aux link.

I suspect you could also manually calibrate the Aux switch by altering the endpoints.

I guess I'll need to use a tach and set ST-1 with sub trim first, then ST-2 and Normal using endpoints.

Start with AUX2 enabled and the TRAVEL reset to 100/100. Calibrate the RevMax then set AUX2 to INH and use the mix to set the desired headspeeds per flight mode.

Start with AUX2 enabled and the TRAVEL reset to 100/100.

Yup, that's how I calibrated the Aux2 endpoints.

If I'm just using the mix to adjust the endpoints it means I can only get two settings, which is probably all I need I admit. I take it the mix correlates directly, ie.

RATE: +76%
-70%

is 76% ATV, and 70% ATV, taking into account the fact that the revmax isn't interested in the direction/polarity.

That should be, around um, 1687RPM low, and 1832RPM high at 8:1 if I'm calculating it correctly. Anyway it's easier to adjust for sure.
I guess I don't need a limiter in normal mode anyway. :DH

Perfect.

Thanks Paul.

A couple of issues, can I set the DX7's throttle hold to turn off the GV1? On a somewhat related note, concerning a GY611 gyro, how or can I change the gyro's two respective sensitvity levels from the DX7 rather than having to program the same from the 611's menu to predesignated settings? thanks FM
