esc melted.. Fire

I had a crash.. as seen below.
Put her back together and she was like brand new.. three flights!!
Fourth time, pluged battery in and POOF esc smoked, caught fire and melted the front of my helicopter before I could get the fire out?
Using battery from crash, small crush wonder if that was it? It charged normally.

Maybe from the crash, some diodes of the battery shorted together and smoked that esc. Is the motor ok?

god I hope so, I've ordered a new esc and frame and canopy and the servo above the esc which melted too..

Batteries do not have Diode's. You were meaning the ESC, right? That would most likely be FET's then

You might want to upgrade your ESC or at least use a BEC if your not already. My stock ESC would go into thermal protection mode on occasion.

Currently using the Eflite 40a pro lite ESC. I'm not sure I recommend it tho, you might want to check around for some better reviews. I lost about 45 seconds of flight time right off the bat. I don't think its as efficient. Also It has a screwy rs232 programming link. Some desktops have this port but laptops usually dont.

Well, I've allready rebuilt from frame up. I also put a stock esc back in.
Soo.. if someone would plz give me a link on a good esc that uses the same
batt. terminal. THANKS GUYS!

The Align 35amp esc, or if you have more money the Ice 50 lite from Castle Creations are great for this heli.

On a new ESC, you have to solder the battery plug on the wires of the ESC, as well as the motor bullet connectors.

Smoked my stock ESC with a dumb move: hit idle up right after touching down and letting the head almost stop, but before soft start reset. Scary since I thought the lipos were about to torch!

Replaced with an Exceed Volcano/Proton 40A... the irony in that just hit me, lol ;-)

The CC Lite is available for $85.00 from a number of places. May still be too much $'s, but the logging function is nice and the govener mode works much better than Align.

Yes X1000000000 Save up fro the CC ESC. and the USB link. You will be glad you did. I am as cheap as they come, but some things you need to buy good. You don;t need Kontronik good, but CC stuff is asweome. The Governor modes, and ability to log each flught and look at battery consumption, motor current etc.
