Hello,
I just replaced my Hatori SB1 with a SB15FH on my Xcell .60 (with OS .70 SZ engine). I haven't run the engine with this muffler yet, but I have a few mounting questions:

1. The muffler was supplied without any clamps. Is the design of the FH such that I only attach to the engine, and not to the helicopter frame? Or does it require an additional mount like the SB1 had? If I have to, I can make the SB1 clamp work on this muffler.

2. The pressure tap for the fuel tank ends up on the bottom of the muffler when installed. I don't think this will be a problem since the pressure port fitting protrudes into the muffler by approximately 1/4" to 3/8", which should keep oil from filling the tubing to the tank. Is this OK or do I need to plug this hole and drill and tap another one on top of the muffler?

3. The muffler was provided with an aluminum "gasket" for the OS engines? Is this adequate to seal? The SB1 had some soft gaskets that seemd to work really well. My initial installation just reused those gaskets. Could I have gotten away with an aluminum gasket by itself?

4. How much torque do you use to mount the muffler to the flange that attaches to the engine. It looks like I can tighten those 4 screws until the metal spacer through which the screw protrudes contacts the flange. But it seems that would defeat the purpose of the Floating head concept, so I just let the screws protrude through the back of the flange plate by 1-2 threads. Is this sufficient?

Thanks for your help

1. No clamp needed

2. Sounds like you got a muffler for exhaust on the left side. Not sure they make one for the right side exhaust.

3. Yes it is adequate with a small film of RTV

4. Tighten the 4 screws till they are tight and you can not turn them anymore.

David,
thank you for the reply. I figured out the 4 screw this evening when they loosened up when I was running the helicopter. I'll take the clamp off tomorrow. I appreciate your help, it flys much better with the SB15 vs. the SB 1, thanks to your input.
