Hey all you MT owners out there - I really got to wring my MT out today - WOW, this heli is fantastic for plastic. Loops, rolls, flips in all directions, it is a very predicatable flyer, smooth and crisp. Ok now that I got that out of my system - I did notice a vibration today in a hover. I have not crashed this thing yet and have about 12-15 flights on it. I have torn it down and am looking for suggestions of things to look for, here is what I have checked so far...

- center hub fits tight
- all screws in head assembly are tight and everything is free to move
- main blades are well balanced (static and dynamic)
- I did notice that the main blades were snug but not as tight as a usually have them
- I greased all bearings on the feathering shaft
- I noticed that the linkages can slip on to far sometimes introducing play, perhaps this had something to do with it

The vibration could be easily seen on the horizontal stab on the tail, it was vibrating up and down.

Even with the vibration it flew awesome, maybe I am being to picky because my Trex SE is completely vibe free.

Has anyone else noticed a persistent vibration?

Its your tail blades. Balance them. I run some V2 tails and still had to balance them but no more vibes. Those vibes will destroy your tail grips in a hurry. I had one pull through and fly off wrecking the entire tail. If you can slide the grips in or out they are going. If one is more than the other it will never balance right. New grips are $5. Get those and some V2 blades and youll be happy.

Thanks, I will check that. I just put V2 blades on and didn't check them for balance. My grips do have a bit of slop in them, I can't remember if it was like that from the start or not. I'll post results when I get a chance to set it up.

Gardner, I checked my tail blades and they were indeed out of balance. The vibrations have been reduced down to acceptable levels. Thanks for the tip - I have gotten complacement about balancing my tail blades, the TREX SE blades were always spot on. Well it just goes to show, check everything, everytime :)

I can't say enough how impressed I am with this heli - I love how it flies! Stable and agile at the same time - I can't wait for TT to put out an aluminum head.

Cheers.

Glad you got it squared away. I've yet to get a set of balanced tails from any mfg except the glow in the dark blades I got off the net.

I dont know why my belt always gets looser after each flight and it starts vibrating...Did check and tighten all to screws...

Im having the same issue with this crazy vibration. Checked all of the above. I did change to Align SE tail blades and it got better, but I didnt check the balance. I will go back tonight and balance the tail blades. Also I did notice some play in my tail grips so I'll be ordering new ones just to be safe. Darn it I wish they would relaease the aluminum upgrades already.

Never heard that before.
Sorry for asking but just to make sure.
Do you?:
- Completely take out the tail section together with the plastic boom clamp by removing the two screws that go all the way through and the two small screws and also detach the two boomstruts by taking out the screw that goes through the small clamp.
In other words detach the complete tail.
- Loosen the two screws in the boom clamp/ gear housing.
- Adjust tension by sliding the boom out.
- drop a (small)amount of CA between boom and clamp (if needed, i don't do it btw)
- tighten the screws in the boomclamp/gearhousing
- slight the tailboomblock back in the heli and put in the four screws and reattach the struts and fasten the bolt in the small clamp.
All screws loctited except for the small ones going into plastic.

Sorry if some technical names are wrong, it's my English ;)
Tension never changed during flights on my MT.

I got rid of the slop in my tail grips last night. I added a shim on each side and re assembled the grips to the shaft. So my assembly order is now bolthead, shim, safty washer, bearing into the shaft. This got rid of all the play in the tail grips and the vibration is now finally gone. Hopefully the aluminum upgrades will take care of this issue but mine is fixed now. Also I am going to switch to carbon blades this weekend.

Guys one thing I also noticed is that the ball link ends are a bit on the flimsy side. I had a cracked one and almost missed it because it was a small crack, but keep an eye on those ends.

That's a good idea, I am going to give that a try to see if I can reduce the vibration even more.

I had a couple of head shims laying around for my BladeCpPro. thats what I used on the grip bolts. 1 on each side.

In Aussie land.. Metal bits for the E325 are available.. Swash plate, grips, mixer etc etc.. I can't tell you where in the USA though but I'm sure that if we can find it here, you should be able to find it over there..
