If you purchase in bulk, fuel from Magnum and Wildcat can be had for that price. If you can get together with a few fellow nitro fliers it's easy to do this without breaking the bank. Usually I'll purchase 5 to 7 cases of fuel for a season at roughly $65 a case. That's about the price of ONE pack for the electric and I don't have to worry that it's all going to be destroyed in the event of a bad crash. On a 50 you are looking at anywhere between 8 to 10 minute flights per tank which is double the flight time of most electric machines. Figure 8 tanks per gallon and you have roughly 64 minutes of flying per gallon.

Yes, nitro can be frustrating at times and sure it's a little messy at times, but when it comes to flights per $ it still wins out in my book.

how much do you want at $80/case? Call RHR or let me know and I'll deliver during the week. (working on Ft. Stewart)

Kinger is right. If you buy your fuel in bulk at the start of the season it's easy to get it for $16 a gallon. I bought 5 cases of Magnum for roughly the price of 1 Tp5000 pack.

Myself and a friend split a drum of Magnum 30% and it came out to $14.82/ gallon. No lipo wil cycle enough to beat that and the flights are half as long.

How many gallons can you get from a drum?

Yeah, OK, and I can get together with a bunch of guys for a wholesale battery order too.

I fly alot of Nitro and Gas planes, so I'm well familiar with this stuff. But there are just some intangibles with these big electrics that are hard to objectify. Same could be said the other way too. Which is why I admit, I'm an addict to all things that fly. :glasses2:

Cheers!

this is how i plan to solve my Glow/Electric delema. im gonna get a t-rex 600 nitro, and keep my 450SE, this way when i need a quick flight i fly the 450, and when i just feel like flying all day or inbetween charges i'll fly the nitro. this way i get the best of both worlds.
