My heli flew fine for my first 3 outings. I flew Saturday fine but today there is a clicking noise. I have no idea what it is and I need to figure it out. We took out the engine and it's fine as well as the clutch. Took apart the tail to see if any teeth are missing. No teeth are missing on the belt on gears. We've checked everything and still cannot figure it out. It is not a constant click, it comes and goes.

The clear plastic covering on my woodies is kinda loose. Is it possible that thats causing a clicking noise?

My first guess would be that your tail belt has a turn in it. It happened to me, but only noticed the clicking will back-spinning the rotor - sounded like it came straight from the pinion/main gear even to a couple of heli guys in the local shop. The owners son figured out the turn issue although I swore that I put the belt on correctly.

If your blade covering is loose that will make a racket.

Other than that a belt issue or the tail shaft set screw is loose and the pin is working its way out and hitting the case.

Is your guide pulley on the left side ok? My belt ate the bottom half of the left guide pulley which caused a loose belt that was clicking like you are describing.

Belt is on correctly. Took tail apart 2 times and no screws are baking out. 2 red guide pulleys are ok and tail red pulley is ok.

Whats left is the blade covering and belt. I will shrink it tomorrow with a blow dryer. I'm wondering if it is my belt tension. It was a very hot day and I'm wondering wheres it's JUST at the point where it's getting too lose so thats why I only hear clicking sometimes. It was very hot both saturday and sunday. I'm gona warm theh eli up in the sun next time and then get the belt as tight as I can.

Curious to know the outcome. Did u manage to find the problem?

I havnt flown since last weekend and I hoping to fly again this saturday. Hopefully with your suggestions the click will go away. Right now I leaning towards the belt. It was a hot say and it was a tad bit more loose then the other times I flew. When I get out this sat I will let the heli sit in the sun then tighten the belt.

I flew my heli today and the clicking was gone! I tried to tighten the belt more but I don't think I even changed it. I shrank the plastic covering on the blades so they are no longer loose. Also we brought the throttle curves up again so my headspeed is higher.

Today I hovered by myself for a tank. Then we got a buddy box working and by the secondd tank I was doing fast banked figure 8's!
