Now another one for the front and i'll order a set.
Align is really looking at copying all of KDE's upgrades.
I expect a 3rd bearing block and longer mainshaft in a while..

Sorry but it really stinks. American innovates and comes up with idea and product. Taiwan copies it and sells for less.
I already have the KDE one.

I'm sure they have the 3rd bearing block on production, my V2 frame came with the holes to mount the 3rd bearing block. Anyway I already got the KDE on mine and it looks great:thumbup:

+1 That area breaks easily it seems. If KDE Direct came out with one I would buy it.

Well, you can't prevent it from being copied.. look at how many 450 clones there are!

True, but "if" we come up with something first, why don't we market it here, and not charge so damn much? Our three major auto makers should be cloning import cars and copy their innovations.........:thinking Nah, let someone else have our jobs.:clap

Free market system, it is what fosters competition and keeps us, the consumer, from paying outrageous prices for products...regardless of the country of origin.
Even if KDE patented their frame brace, I don't think Aligns frame brace copies any design except for the idea that it is a rear frame brace.
That being said, if the prices and quality are close, I buy American if possible and I own a lot of KDE upgrades including two of the frame braces. Either way, the consumer always has a choice on what to purchase.

Your right it does lower prices but also does not reward innovation.
If all America does is innovate but not manufacture, then we are truly in trouble from an Economic perspective

I think innovation is still rewarded for a company that has the forethought to keep their price "in the hunt". Or provides a better quality of product or customer service.

Great point. It's like the KDE head block, nice but not $70 nice.

It's not 70$, but $78.95.
Anyway I got it. It's a engineered beauty of artwork and I can be looking at it for the hours.

Might I just add that every KDE upgrade I have purchased have all been perfect and flawless in every respect with one exception. After contacting KDE and receiving a very, very prompt reply to my small issue, KDE replaced a portion of of my problem part without delay. To be completely honest, the issue at hand was probably due to me monkey fisting what should be have been finessed.
Props to KDE for their great customer service and understanding. I will happily pay KDE for their innovation and their efforts in top quality products.
Thank you KDE

Totally agree. I already have most of the KDE upgrades for my V2 700 and glad I do. Wouldn't buy the copied Align parts even if I didn't have the KDE stuff already.
The KDE stuff is so nice too. I don't mine paying more for a high quality product made in the USA ;)

Er, how many ways is there to make a frame brace in this area anyway? How do we know it's a copy of the KDE idea? Align could just be finally fixing their heli.
though it's true KDE seems to have come up with the repair first. That said, I ordered the KDE part the other day. Partly for bling purposes (the KDE looks really nice) and partly because it looks like a good design.
And... it looks like it'll even work on the front frame joint too, which I'll check when I get mine. If so, I'm going to order another one for the front. It'll have the tail brace mounting holes there, but it should be easy to make the canopy clear those protrusions. then the whole frame area down there will be much stronger.

Ok, got my brace from KDE today and installed it. Now I see why everybody raves about KDE - super super nicely made and fitting part. They even send it with a set of correctly sized bolts to replace the originals (which are the wrong sizes for the KDE brace).
Only took about 15 mins. I did it on the floor with the heli laid over on its side, so it's a very easy retrofit.
It will not fit on the front unfortunately, the ears on the back are machined precisely to fit around the frames in the back. They have a slant back there where in the front they're squared off and further forward. Oh well.
But it adds a huge amount of strength back there. When you take the gear loose without it, the frames just flap. But with the brace installed, it's suddenly built like a truck. Should be a lot firmer in a hard landing..
I definitely recommend it (though the V2 kit probably has the part from Align in the OP)....

Speaking of that, I'm still wondering why neither align nor KDE have made a similar brace for the front. The back is now built like a truck on mine with the KDE brace, seems like you can make one for the front by just taking the ears for the boom support bolts off. Same with the Align part.
Then the entire bottom structure would be super strong just like it is on the nitro.
BTW, I can confirm that the KDE part does clear with the Align 5200mah batts. It's a close fit, but the batts do clear the crossmember even with the velcro straps around them. I was kind of worried about this because I have the huge batteries....

or just build the whole bottom piece out of aluminum
http://helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=2207128&postcount=25
make the whole bottom frame a lot stiffer
