Hi

I seem to be being some conflicting advice re-pitch setup on my Shuttle.
The first advice is to set +6 degree pitch at center stick and have a linear (straight line) curve set up in the Tx from -2 low +6 mid +9 top stick.

The second advice is to setup 0 at center stick and then setup the Tx -2 low 0 center +9/10 top stick.

AS a newbie to this, any advice to which way is best and why would be welcome.

I have noticed that if I use the first setup then I have to change the pitch etc. rods quite abit from the Manuals advisable setup.

In the Finless setups (even though electric) he does use a "0" center pitch,

Any advice greatfull

Setting +5-6 deg. at center stick makes the collective stick less sensitive while learing.
Setting 0 deg. at center stick makes the collective more sensitive.

You will have to re-learn your collective when you switch to 0 at center stick if you learn with +5-6 at center once you are ready to learn aerobatics.

Both ways work. I would lean twards the 0 at center stick if you are going to do aerobatics or 3d flying. If you plan on flying scale you will not need 0 at center stick so learn with +5-6 at center.
Just my .02.

old post, but I was just surfing around the shutle posts.

question about that +5 at center stick. You're saying it's more 'tame' than 0 at center stick. Is that because in normal mode, you're getting lift at a lower head speed?

F3C/FAI pilots tend to fly with the hover pitch in the center of the stick travel
They set the head up differently so they can move the heli around in the hover
without you noticing the cyclic inputs - they need very precise control
They also setup a complex pitch curve which is can be fairly flat at center stick
once again to give fine/smooth/granular control over height

It's just a different setup to achieve different goals

The problem is that from mid stick to top stick there is a 5 degree range
If you had a -10 to +10 setup then from mid stick to low stick
there is a 15 degree range
This is not good for doing 3D - our brain prefers linear responses

3D requirements are different - so we use a different setup
We don't do a lot of hovering
