Hello

I bought a Zap 400 aka Shogun/Zoom from HeliHobby along with a E-Flight 400 4200kv, a CC25, HS-55 for aileron and elevator, HS-50 for the tail and a HS-56 I am using for pitch and a Apogee 3-Cell 1570 mAh. Using a JR receiver and a JR 9303 Tx
I have had several problems with the Heli; first the tail gears stripped, but my real problem is with my motor it glitches about every 2 or 3 seconds it makes the heli torque pretty good. At first I thought it was the main rotor gear because it has a little rough spot in it but I ran the motor for awhile and readjusted the gear mess and that seems ok now.
Here is what I have done to try and correct the problem moved the antenna, disconnected the servos, removed the red wire from the speed control to eliminate the BEC and use separate battery connected to the receiver, tried a PCM receiver, none of these things have helped. Of course this was all done with the heli setting on the bench, it would take one hell of a gyro to keep the tail steady the way this thing torques when it. :? Can anyone give me any help? :?

Use a choke. JR sells one that is simply a magnetic ring. You loop the lead that goes from the ESC to the receiver through it a few times. I also had wicked glitching with my JR radio and CC25 until I installed the choke. It is totally gone now.

I've also seen inline chokes that look kind of like an aileron extension with a lump in the middle. either will work, but the JR version was what my hobby shop had in stock.

Thanks BimmerM3

I will give that a try.

since my post i tried it again and i found that the pinion was loose, i originally installed it with Green Loctite RC/609. do you know if Loctite goes bad because i have had this bottle for several years now

Cool. Please follow up so we know if it fixes your problem.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a fresh bottle of locktite. I don't know if it goes bad or not, but if one bottle lasts you several years, it's not a bad investment.
