I have a JR 500T Gyro controlling a DS3400G tail servo on a Trex 450 heli (actually it’s a Helimax X400 but I have a Trex tail on it.) I’m using a Spektrum DX-6 transmitter and a 6000 receiver. The Gyro instructions say that the servo works best if the server arm is 18 mm long, however 18 mm causes the tail slider to bind. In fact, the only way to stop overdriving the tail pitch slider is to make the servo arm length 8 mm or less and turn the gyro travel adjustment to it’s minimum. I can get the tail to hold in a hover if I set the gyro gain at the minimum in heading hold mode (51% end travel on my spectrum radio) but any change in throttle causes the tail to wag back and forth 2-3 times before dampening out. The holding power is obviously not too good at such a low gain setting. Sometimes the wag will not go away until I reduce throttle drastically. Does anyone know what I can do to stop the wag?

Don't know much about 500t, but set your radio end points to max for fast piro rate and drop to 6mm on the servo horn I have a 450 rex 6mm works well .then set travel limits on your Gyro so its not binding .Now you should be able to increase the gain bit by bit until she holds with out wag. Also set it up in rate mode first so that she is stable with out trim . And make sure revo mixing is off.

I have the same gyro and servo. My heli was wagging really bad. I turned down the gyro dial (not sure what it is called) I would guess to the half point. Hard to tell because the dial is so small. Also hard to tell how much its turning. My tail still wags a bit, but not as bad. Turning it down helped and I raised the Spektrum 7 radio from 50 to 60% for gyro. I am going to turn down the gyro down a little bit at a time. Hopefully the wagging will go away. I am using the stock JR sero arm in the inner hole. I am still learning but I hope this gives you a starting point. If you get yours completely fixed let me know what you did.
