I think it's pretty typical for the camera developers to be ahead of the NLE's capabilities.

We saw the same with HDV when it arrived. Computers didn't handle it so well, then eventually they did.

Same with AVCHD, which I believe was developed by Sony and Panasonic.

From what I understand, Sony Creative Software and Sony cameras aren't much of a brother/sister relationship. Perhaps more 'neighbors'.

I have all Sony cameras but I hate these "special" formats they always come out with every few years.

I never buy crap that only runs on Sony software like those DCR-IP cameras that flopped. :FThat

Yeah, AVCHD definitely isn't perfect. And the Pany SD1 is a bit funky with it's poor handling of bright conditions, etc. But, atleast we can edit the codec now. And a bit of color correction fixes most of the problems with the SD1.
