How long have you run your hyper 50 on 15% nitro with your head speed at 2000 and above on a stock standard TT 50. I have been doing it for a short while and no ill affects. What I am thinking is what will happen if I go to 30% nitro? will the head explode? The reason being is that when I do forward flips the motor bogs but that could be what the the gurus call bad collective managment. What are your thoughts?

Unless I'm reading this wrong, you're running 2000rpm on the head with stock blades? If you are that's a really bad idea. 1700 seems to be considered the max safe rpm with wooden blades.

My understanding is that if you up the nitro to 30%, retune your engine and reset your curves and you should be good. The head itself will be fine, it won't explode. If you are using wooden blades, consider yourself lucky that they haven't exploded already.

You could just have too much cyclic dialed in, if you followed the stock setup thats probably the case combined with power management (my personal term for knowing when to back off cylic, collective or both)

What is a good head speed for a stock Raptor 50 with the TT carbon blades? I am running about 1900 rpm. Is that OK? I know the blades are good for that but what about the plastic head?

Mike at raptor technique runs at about 1800 if I remember correctly, he figured higher than that caused some pitchiness is FFF. The manual recommends 1800 as well.

1800 to 2000

I run 2000, that puts the hyper in its sweet spot (1950 with the optional 8.7 gears)

The plastic head will take the high head speed but it will eventually become sloppy, the jesus bolt holes will become elongated. Probably 50 flights or so.

I'm assuming you mean a TT50 engine? I would hope you're not running woodies at those kinds of headspeeds. I have the OS 50-H myself, so I can't comment on the motor, but if you change to 30%, you will need to retune and adjust your curves stated above. You will notice a big power difference.

Have you tached your current setup?

A metal head is a very good investment if you're going to be doing 3D... and it's cheaper than one hard crash...

I have my Raptor 50v2 with os hyper .50, it has a metal head block with stock plastic grips with stock gear ratio,, I am turning 2060, you have to turn the head on up for heavy 3d ,, 1800 headspeed with stock gear ratio sucks,
