save an extra 100 and get a dx7. im using a feigao 5300kv bl motor. with a castle creations phnx 10. for a brushless tail, dont wast your money any other esc. you really need the tuning abilitys of the cc10. plus you dont have program with the stick. use the castle link. plug into a usb port then into the esc and tune what you want. btw from a bl tail30% to 50% brake is needed..

at areomicro.com you can order the motor and cc10 for like 65 bucks plus shipping. i suggest ordering them togather from that site. seeing as the cc10 by its self is almost 60 to 70 bucks.

use the spare bl esc for a plane or another heli

I changed my mind, the 4530 works noticably better than the 3020 for me. I tried two tail motors, both new, I think motor A was CN12-RXC and I know that motor B was. After several more attempts, I discovered that the 3020 tail wouldn't tune very well at various gyro gain settings. At low gain <50%, kickouts are 90 degrees or worse. At high gains, ~75%, I get 60 degree kickouts and on verge of tail wag. During easy flight, 3020 holds fine. During hard turns, it gets dangerous. During hard climbs, 3020 kicks out about 60 degrees. It feels like it's fighting for control no matter the gyro gain setting or how I correct by thumb.

With the 4530, mine kicks out about 30 degrees and holds much better in aggressive turns. It doensn't need as much rpm to get thrust because it has more pitch and diameter. It feels like the tail has more control - a more solid and responsive feel.

Now I have an extra 10 3020s... maybe I'll make a tiny plane.

Hi, I just ordered a CPP. What is the best way to set up the tail? There is an Australian website which sells the belt drive tail upgrades for the the CPP. Should I go with that or get a brushless motor? Also after I replace the motor, do I need a heading hold gyro or an ESC and which one is the best? PM me, thanks.
