I've been setting up my DX-7 on my Trex 450XL, often times at night after the family is sleeping.
Is there any way to turn down or turn off the speaker/beep on this thing?
Thanks!

A piece of black tape over the buzzer. Requires disassembly of the radio to a minor degree.

Or, if willing to void your warranty, open up the radio and insert a small switch in the wire to the speaker. That will preserve beep timer at the field and allow absolutely silent operation at home.

Geez, for as nice as this radio is, you'd think they'd have given it a mute or volume control.
Regardless, it's a beautiful upgrade from the RTF junk radios.

If Spektrum had put a mute or volume control in the forums would have been slammed with complaints about users forgetting to unmute or turn the volume up :)
some days you just can't win.

It's not that "nice" (or "not-nice" either). It's just an average 7 channel computer radio. If not for 2.4G, no one would be talking about it...
So, what other 6 or 7 channel has volume?

I don't know if any other does have volume. This is my first real radio. I've got less than agile thumbs, so it will be a nice radio for me for years to come (laughs).
Jermo's right. Can't please everyone

Isn't that the truth, from Spektrums point of view it's a good model to launch as the price is attractive and feature set is reasonable but I'd much rather be able to use my 9303.

I'm hoping one day to afford a really nice radio that doesn't feel like a toy. Until then the DX7 does what I need right now.
