Can someone tell what is the construction of the boom? Is it a cover over a tube, or is it a composite or aluminum structure of it's own?

Can someone tell what is the construction of the boom? Is it a cover over a tube, or is it a composite or aluminum structure of it's own?I saw some pics of the 700 with the boom "cover" off. Don't take any of this as fact, but from the pic it appeared that there was a long aluminum plate/mount that extended from the front motor mount area to the rear tail case. The belt ran under the plate, and the tail boom cover surrounded it all. It seemed like the tail boom cover was an integral/structural part of the tail boom.

Can't remember where I saw the pics.

No, it wasn't those. I think they were on facebook. I'll see if I can find them.

Its A carbon fiber box frame. over the whole length. it does have an aluminium insert at the frame part, to fix it to the frame. I've had it in my hands at AHS.

Sounds interesting, and maybe expensive to repair

According to SAB, it won't be much more expensive than replacing a standard boom and supports.

Did you mean this CAD drawing:

And I think there're a few photos with people holding a boom. They wrote in an Italian forum that it wouldn't cost more than an aluminum boom and tail housing (...).

That must be a pretty robust drive belt in the main transmission. Smooth. no doubt.
