Hi guys.
I have a Raptor 90 (Well it was 60 untill i upgraded it to 90)
the things that are upgraded on this heli are :
710mm Carbn main Rotor Blades
105mm Carbn tail blades.
CARBON TAIL BOOM PIPE (814MM) 90SE
CARBON DRIVE SHAFT (791MM) 90SE
Carbon Tail supports.
Carbon Ailerons
3D bell (for 90 engine)
3D Clutch (for 90)
91 tooth Main Gear and 11 tooth clutch gear.
OS Max-91SX Hring engine
Futaba 611 Gyro
all other servos are HITECH HS-5985MG
Everything else is Standard parts(Plastic and metal Frames)
Now I have a problem
1. When doing 3D my engine looses almost half RPM. Especially when i do Tic-Toc's (the engine is Tuned nicely), My Pitch is 12 - 12 so it isn't the Pitch setup.
What's wrong here?
2. When let's say i do a Radical Front Roll or Radical Left roll and bring the stick back then my hely is like "Springs" back.
What could be the cause of this?
Is my hely Heavy? Is the engine not powerfull enough?
Help me out here guys.

Your blades are too long, you need 680 or 690mm blades..

you mean to say that all the guys out there that do 3D on a Raptor 90 use 690 blades?

Have you tried reducing your pitch to see if the situation improves?
What headspeed are you running?

I tried everything with the pitch. I've tried High Rpm's and low pitch and other things.
It seems that there is just not enough power to do what i need.
So are the blades too Large?
Do people that use Raptor 90 use 690,680 Vblades and not the Thunder Tiger 710?
I have now Thunder Tiger Carbon 710 Blades

I'd try 10 degrees pitch and smaller blades.

What is your cyclic pitch?

I can't believe how wrong some of you could be. The raptor 90s 3d beautifully on 710's. Light weight red paddles or v paddles really liven it up. I've tried many different blades on my r90,, and I have settled on the radix 710's. Real floaty feeling, nice autos. Also check out the g-force mixing arms, or the infinovation mixing arms. There are ways to make it flip/roll faster without going to 690s.

I would not say "wrong". Sure a 90 flies and flips nice on 710's but it is just faster with 690's.

knock off 3-4 pounds would be the BEST way to make it flip/roll faster, but that ain't gonna happen..

matter of opinion I guess. Most of the team pilots use 710's.

Well when Szabo flew a Raptor he swore by them. Heck V-Blade named a 690 blade after him. To fit the odd 12/5 size the Raptor 90 has

Looks like Fastbinder runs them too

Alan still flies 690s on his Avant.
I fly 710's on my 90's myself :D

I saw a team pilot with a hacksaw and dremel.. he got his model under 12 pounds too..

alan was an exception to the rest of the team. Most fly radix blades 710's. I spent some time with Dino and Tom at the vegas funfly.

Jared Granzow (who is one hell of a TT pilot) also uses the Radix 710's so 690's are certainly not a necessity. While the machine can be set up to handle 24 degrees of total pitch, you have to be pretty darn good at collective management to make sure you are not bogging the machine down through overuse of pitch and cyclic together. However, you mentioned that this same scenario presents itself even with less than 12 degrees of pitch so it may not be your collective management. Just curious, have you ever given the machine to another pilot to see if they have the same problem you do through these maneuvers? I remember giving what I thought was an underpowered machine one time to top level 3D pilot. Interestingly enough, when he flew the machine (with no changes) it looked much more powerful than it ever did in my hands. Really opened my eyes to how important collective management is.
In looking at your original post, I see you are using the 91SX motor. If I'm not mistaken, that was the motor that was released prior to the C-Spec correct? If so, the rev range may be different than what most guys are using today with the SZ's. What pipe are you using with this engine?

Every single team pilot flies the blade of his OWN preference
If your collective management isn't good you might want to look into 690 blades instead of 710.
