Is the spectra really all that or is it just another overpriced overblown miniature product beyond the reach of most pilots.

When I bought my extream, I thought this is a lot of money. After I got used to fling it. It was the best thing I ever did. They are very well designed and easy to work on. MA puts alot of thought into thier products. Yes the money is a bit high for the average flyer, but it can help take you to the next level.

I never knew that Miniatures machines were that far out of reach for the average pilot.
I have owned at least one of just about every machine they have produced over the last 17 or 18 years. They have all been good machines. They are not the easiest to build, or the cheapest to crash, but they have all flown well. I'm sure this one will be much the same.

The first Spectra kit actually shipped on Friday the 4th. The rest of the kits are scheduled to ship today the 6th. So I would think the dealers here in the USA that has kits on order will start receiving them later this week. The first run is sold out and will ship out.

I believe Whirlyspud is #1 on the list of the shop he ordered his from. The first run should cover his order.

Are you sure kits have been shipped out today? Spoke to heliproz and they said MA havent shipped any out. Are they shipping first to the people who ordered directly from them?

I have not talked to MA today (6th). But that was the plan to ship out the Spectra kits they had ready today. They shipped the first Spectra kit (1) on Friday. I would think the dealers (USA) that had them ordered would start receiving them later this week. Also would depend where there order was located on the list when they are shipped to them.

ALCON,
I spoke to MA today and the kits they had ready were on the way out the door. That was the plan anyway....

Did Tim over at MA finish the custom filter or are we going to have to resort to the 'standard' K&N filter? And did the TRM modified motors ship along with the Spectra Kits too?

kits did go out today and will continue to go out until they run out. The filters are not done. Although other than being heavy, the regular K&N filters work fine. The custom ones will definitely look more snazzy though and will be much lighter.
I don't know the answer on the motors, I know there were definitely some in stock but I don't know the particulars of where they were going.

Is the Spectra fairly easy to build and are MA's manuals very clear and illustrative? This is my first heli that I am building so I am looking forward to it.

The Spectra-G ships with a 67 page detailed instruction manual, 40 pages of drawings and a new 16 page operators guide targeted for customers that are new to gasoline helicopters, all on a CD. They'll be posted on the website fairly soon.
