Sweet, thanks Davehour. This information will be very valuable to those of us that are building now and have yet to select a battery. Once my machine is done, I'll simulate the weight of the gens ace 2600 and 3300 and see how it will impact my CoG and make a decision from there. Thanks again!

Thanks Dave! Wow, the 3300mah weigh so much more than the 2600 class packs. hmmmm.... maybe I'll put my ICE 100 behind the mainshaft somehow to counterbalance the weight of the 3300 packs...

Magbarn, that's exactly what I did. I mounted my Ice 100 between the frames just aft of the main shaft. I'm hoping I can run 3300's like that with a good CoG.

syn90,
Can you take pictures of the installation?
I'm glad I could help with the weights guys.
The best location to mount the ESC in the 500EFL Pro is at the mainshaft location because the 500EFL Pro tendency is to be nose heavy.

Here is my CC Ice 100 mounted between the frames just a hair aft of the main shaft. It's a perfect fit! If you have one of the newer 75 or 100's, just clip the plastic ears off and it should slide right in between the frames. Sorry for the poor resolution on the pics.

Thanks for the pictures syn90.
The current CC Ice ESC's won't fit inside the 500EFL Pro frames because the new casing style makes them wider than the frames spacing. The CC Ice ESC width is about 37 while the 500EFL Pro frames spacing is 35mm.
You could mount yours because it has the old casing style and it's narrower.

Sure thing.
Sorry, I didn't realize the new ones had wider cases, I thought it was just the way they redesigned the plastic endcaps and the ears for mounting.
Glad I have an older one!! :)

From what I'm getting is that the Gens Ace 2600 mah lipos (464g) are right at the sweet spot on cog and that that 3300 mah's are on the nose heavy side. What about these then. The TP 3300 mah 25C weigh in a 468g as advertised on their website. Thats only 4 grams heavier than the 2600mah gens ace's. That 700 more mah at only 4 extra grams. I would to see if anyone actually weighed some of these TP's to see if thats what they really are. They are their lite series G6's. I would cough up the money if this is their real weight.

The GenAce 2600mah do balance perfectly on the 500EFL, it's almost they're custom made lol. (Just tried out a pair right now) The Tpower 3300mah may be a great choice but at $140, hell no. I'd rather get 3 genace's for almost the same price. Much more flight time for the same coin and likely the same performance.

Yea but I am getting a crazy amount of cycles on my TPs without any noticeable decrease in power. They are not that bad of a choice since they last so long. I don't think you will ever find someone who dosn't love their TP's. When you are considering one of the most important parts of the heli being the powertrain, I will buy whatever is the best.
