Ok...I was playing around with the FF foam and trying different stuff. I wanted something that was just fun and laid back. I was wondering what a bigger wing surfice would do, so, I took the plans from a 28" Yak that Rob Jones let us all have sheet of Blue foam and cut out back in July. I then made the wing bigger from the one in the plans but left everything the same size. I took the wing from its normal 30" to 39" and from 6" center cord to 12".
This thing is fun... It does all kind of crazy stuff. For instance...give it full left aileron and it will do a rolling circle. It Flat spins like crazy if you give both full up and right throw on both sticks. And...if you get in trouble (and your not pointing straight down) let off the sticks and it glides flat forever.
Again, the fuse and cross section of the Yak is the same size as nomal, about 28" I built the main wing and set it 4" from the very nose of the plane. The CG is at about 1/3 of the main wing (Aileron flaps included).
I will try to get pics up soon and hopefully a video. Here is the measurments of the wing if you already have the plans for the fuse.

Will...
Do you still have the stensil from it? With these Big wing things... Im able to get 2 full planes with 3 sheets by strategicly placing everything... If I remember correctly I was able to get the full wing, aileron flaps, and the fuse on 1 sheet... had to use the crossmember/elevator on another sheet.

I thought about doing a "streched" version of the Yak with a longer wing. But I like this idea better! When I finally destroy my current one, I think I'll build the next one like this.
Good thinking, Bart! :glasses2:

Dean...
I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to supply the foam and cut them out for you... Shipping is the only thing I would worry about. Are you at an APO? Also do you have access to get electrics... If not check out Mac... Im sure he can send stuff to you.

LOL...Yeah right.
Im gonna be delayed a day or two on the video... I have to get my video cam back from a buddy of mine thats going to Iraq in Jan. He wanted to use it to record a few things to his daughter just in case. Im gonna try to get the Pics up tonight with Johnny.
Rob, I know you asked...
but if anyone else wants to know what Im running as far as elecs.
Himax 4100 on a GWS C gearbox w/ a castle creations phoenix 25 esc.
4 hitec 55s
Gws 6 ch receiver. and My Futaba 9c
I was running an Eflight 12x6 which may be a little too much.
We then switch to 10x4.7 and that was better...
Im thinking the 11x4.6 will probably be optimum.

Ok Bart ...I want what you got!!!!! servos motor prop batt everything to match...even the rec on channel 50...give me a total and I will send you funds to cover it all.. I checked out your vid and like the $hit out of it... I dont have any experience with electrics so just do what you think is right..I have flown planks for 20 years but never electrics... heli's for at least 10 years..and still a rookie..hehehe
So really what Im saying is just do what you think is best and I wont complain a lick cuz I dont have a clue... But I will try and see if I can generate some interest here on this side of the world.. Thanks Bart.. :glasses2:

Dean...
The guy flying the BARF in the video is James Vanhook. He and his family own our LHS here in Savannah...we were actually flying behind the shop. He said he has everything in the shop you will need will get a list for you together and post it up. He has flown this thing the most so I asked him to recommend any changes to make it fly better.

I hate to be Johnny come lately to this thread...but does anybody have any way of emailing me a set of plans for this thing?
My buddies and I are jst getting into Foamies for the winter, flying indoors at a golf dome. All I can say is these things are crazy! I bought a bundle of FF foam and I am in need of some decent plans. I saw the video and this thing looks great.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron...we'll try as soon as we can...I dont have any of the measurements for the fuse and crosssection all I have is a template that I have been using from the first one I traced out from Robs...I know you get the plans from here: But I think you have to pay for them, and then use the measurements on the wing here that I have posted.... If somebody has the plans for one of these...please let us know.
Thanks.
