I read the flyer for the T-Rex nitro kit , it says the fuel tank is 440 cc is this cubic centimeters , because if so I think this is a mistake because 440 cc is actually pretty huge and I dont think it'll fit . did they mean to put 440 mL , this seems closer to reality . clarification please Id like to estimate how much flight time you would get on a gallon of fuel. they say 440 cc last one flight 12 min , but like I said I think this is a error ? ?

Steve,
In fact one cc equals one ml. One would think that one from an enlightened nation like Canada which has fully embraced the metric system would know that. :D

440cc is correct. The tank on a Sceadu is 480cc.

And 440 cc = 440 ml = 14.666666 ounces.

12 minutes on that amount of fuel isn't that bad.

And that means 8.72 tanks per gallon of fuel.

I couldn't get 12 min. out of my Evo 50 w/ OS hyper and a 2oz. header. About 10 would just leave the header full. This is flying in I1 and I2.

Oh, and the flyer does say 10 minutes for 440 cc.

Now if we take that math a little further, we could check to see how the electric costs compare to the nitro version.

Around here, 30 percent fuel is about $25.00 per gallon. If Terry's math is correct, then it I could get 104.76 flights on $300 worth of nitro - or the cost of one TP 6SX-5000 battery pack.

But if we look at flight time, the situation is different. At 10 minutes per flight, I will get 1047.6 minutes of flight time for that money on nitro and it would take 174.6 flights (at 6 minutes per flight) to give me the equivalent time with my T-Rex 600 electric .

We have often said that with electrics you pay for all your fuel up front; with nitro, you pay as you go. Now I know just how much flying I have to do to amortize the cost of those batteries.

I have both electrics and nitro burners. I plan to keep all of them for a while.
