View Full Version : lepton 4s kora 15-14 disappointment
I've just checked the box and it's a 15-14 with 790kv
Check the post from Gus - he's running the same setup as me
and he has 2800 on the head cos he's using a 24T
(mine is a tad lower due to 23T)

If one suspects their Kora may be mislabeled, is there a way to confirm visually (or via some other easy way) which version you have?
Mine has a clear sticker on the bum with a felt pen marking 15-14

Check this out. This is a vid of Corrado(aka heliup) flying his Lepton with a Kora 15-14 on 4S.

Nice thanks for the link. Almost done with mine now so hopefully I can shed some light on this too.

No Prob. That vid shows how powerful that setup can be. :smokin:
If you don't think that you have a 15-14, count the magnets, the 14 will have 14 magnets.

thanks for that tip! I certainly will.

if you are ever in buffalo, please fly my rig because I cannot fly anywhere near that level.
Still, dont think I have near that punch either.

I am sure the motor is a 14, its probably my setup.
overpower anything and you can fly sloppy. perhaps i need to learn to manage the head better :!:
Another thing to watch out for, is that you don't have so much pitch that the swashplate is binding the main shaft.
I like to rotate the head by hand (spin it) and move the Ail/Ele sticks through their range while the head is spinning. I do this at low, middle, & high pitchs. If you have too much pitch (or Ail/Elv) you will see the head slow down.
It just depends on the structure of the Swashplate as to how much pitch, etc. you will be able to use.
On my EVO 50's, I use Quick UK swashplates, because they give me a better range than the others do.
Just another possibility.

Alvin that video didn't impress me at all, needs more HS. As you see from Corrados statement it was felt the motor was more in range and performed on a better level on 5S.
It wasn't a hot setup but it is a viable setup - works ok
The problem is that avatar71's Lepton is no where near that level of performance
Which is is a concern and a disapointment

Shawn that is true but it was still a good example of how it can perform on 4S. I agree that on 5S it would be a monster. I personally think that if you are running 4S the Kora 15-10 would be an insane setup. I am running the Kora 15-10 with a 18T on 5S and I can only run 70% on my throttle because my HS would be over 3100. Right now my heli is just plain psychotic with power, but that is on 5S.
That vid was just ot show that with some good collective management that that setup will have plenty of power for the average pilot.

well, I think I might take some of my dissapointment back. I have been flying the lepton and the packs needed some working in. It does not explode up in the air like my trex 600 but it's pretty darn good for me. BUT, the consistency of the motor and esc (Kontronic's) kills the align motor and esc. The punch that the trex delivers quickly drops off. The kontronic stuff is just plain awesome! Perhaps IF I get better, I'll swap the 14 for a 10 or 12...

Hey, I ended up using 5S in my Lepton with the 15-14 and 21 t pinion. It is really a rocket but am still working out some vibrations.

I think I'll end up switching the motor before the batts. BTW, how long are your 5S flights?
Just for information:
Here is one of the best pieces of information that I have found on setting up the Kontronics Jazz controllers.

avatar71 have you tried to use the 26T pinion? I bet that would give you the hs you desire to make it a rocket.

eheli, would that not make the bogging worse?

I don't think it will. Your goal is to get your HS about 3000+. Also remember collective management.

7:30 minute hard 3d flights while taking less than 80% out of the 3700's. :smokin:
