I have ruined another carb rotor in the carb for my SZ-H. The groove in the rotor that rides on the screw keeps wearing out, starts turning oval shaped then causing the rotor to go in and out of the carb. I think it is due to a bad fan I had on the engine. I replaced the fan, and am able to dial it down to about .002" now, as well as balance it, but I think the damage has been done. Once it wears a little it seems to keep wearing.
Problem is the rotor was modified by James Oneil, so I will probably call him today to see if I can get another modified one. Otherwise if anyone knows where I could get one that would be great thanks!

Well if James gets them. He gets them from Great Planes. The part number is 29183200 for the non pumped carb. I see Tower has the Hyper carb rotor for the SZ, but don't see the other one listed.
If your wearing out barrels that quick. I would say yes you definitely have vibration problems. Only time I have problem with carb barrels is using the old Super Tiger carbs back in the early to mid 90's. They had not hardened the barrel enough. Once they corrected that, no more problems.

Good luck finding these things. I have NO idea why Great Planes does not supply this part for the motor while everything else is readily available. I was able to obtain two from a source in Japan (my first one wore out just like yours) and had it not been for that, I would have probably given up on the O.S. and went back to a YS because there's just no way to get the part. Annoying..........

Hey thanks for the link David. Do you typically call them when you need things or will an e-mail suffice? (Wasn't sure if they would be able to read an e-mail that came through in English.)

I had his phone number years ago. He does advertise in RC Technique in Japan.
I have never talked to him, but I understand he speaks English very well. Never had any difficultity communicating with him thru email. He is usually very prompt and answers within several hours. Just got to always figure in the time difference.
He will quote the prices in Yen, but it is easy to do the conversion.
Also they charge a precentage for Credit Card use, plus they charge tax. But it still all works out to be a good price on a lot of items.

Thanks for the replies guys. The weird thing is I was running the same fan on an OS 70 for YEARS and never wore the carb rotor out in that. Now all of a sudden I have eaten my second rotor. I have since replaced the fan with a new one. Balanced perfect, and dialed down to about .0015. Still chewing the rotor up. I think next time I am going to replace the screw also, maybe that is worn?
I think this SZ-H is the biggest piece of shart engine OS has made yet. Seriously thinking of trying the new YS St4.

Glad you could get them Tim. While I agree that the rotor on the 91SZ kinda stinks, there's still no doubt in my mind that the SZ has more power than the current YS91 especially in the midrange. Maybe the new YS will balance the scale a little bit?

I don't doubt the SZ-H has power, its just I cannot get it to run consistant at all. Now I am on my third carb rotor, its just a pain.
