Also noticed last night that when I spun my crankshaft it spins inside the rear bearing! I replaced the bearing and it did get a small bit tighter, so in a futile attempt to save the crankshaft, I took a file and make a series of small gouges around where the bearing would seat to it. I slid it back in the engine and it is now nice and tight, but I can't tell how long it will last.

Anyone else ever see this?

I think this engine is a PILE!

The bearing does not have to be tight on the bearing. There are plenty of engines where the bearing is a slide fit. Whenever you turn the crank, the bearing should be free enough to thrn smoothly. If not, there may be a problem with the bearing or installation.
