Spork Killing A LiPo

Spork, dude, I was perusing your gallery an noticed that you took a LiPo apart. Whats up? Is the black layer on the cell material normal or is it burnt?

As near as I could tell there is a fanfold of metalic (copper?) foil with the black deposit on both sides. I assume the black stuff is the polymer (lithium polymer) itself. Somehow I ended up with one completely dead cell in a 3S pack, so I did what anyone would do - took it apart. :mrgreen:

I replaced the bad cell with a cell froma 2-cell pack Kris gave me. All seems well with it.

so that section of 'fan was one cell? That is so what is so expensive? wow!

Yup. That's one cell of a pretty typical 2000 mah pack.
