View Full Version : Bell crank CCPM
Why do they use bell cranks in the CCPM on the nitros? Doesn't it add slop to the controls? I am looking to add a 50 nitro to my Trex 450SE. I am looking at the Raptor, Trex nitro, and the pantera 50.

Well for many it is to give you a push-pull setup so the servo output shaft/bearings dont wear out as fast. Push/pull allows a more even load on the servo output.
Thats one of the reasons anyway. Another is as you say it helps make a tighter less slop setup and is suppose to allow the servo an easier time centering.

That makes sense. I was expecting something direct between the swash and the servo like the 450SE trex. I noticed while shopping some of the bigger helis had extra linkages (sloop) between the servo and the swash. I was looking at a .50 Raptor but it has the mechanical mixing like the Trex 450XL. I don't think I want that. Thanks for the help.

It also moves the servos up front, improving the CG of the helicopter.
Also, it makes it less likely to strip servo gears every time you crash.
